About the job

The Red Hat Hybrid Platforms team is looking for a Principal Technical Product Manager to join us and work on our Kubernetes container platform monitoring in the EU. In this role, you will be responsible for the OpenShift Monitoring stack, a Prometheus based stack shipped with customer clusters, as well as a hosted Observability solution operated by Red Hat ,and you'll work with our Engineering and Product teams that are responsible for building and delivering them to market. You will plan and deliver product content for new releases and launches of our offerings, prioritize and communicate product requirements to guide development, support the field team in advanced sales opportunities, perform competitive reviews and analyses, and work with partners. You will actively contribute to the overall company strategy and you'll work closely with the Engineering, Marketing, Support, Sales, and Field teams to ensure the success of our offerings. You will also engage with open source communities that support our container initiatives including Kubernetes, other Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) projects, Prometheus, Thanos, and more.

What you will do

  • Collect and document input from Red Hat OpenShift users, customers, community members, and other stakeholders to understand customer needs; develop strategy and roadmap for our offerings
  • Research competitive solutions, both commercial and do-it-yourself alternatives, documenting their relative strengths and weakness to develop competitive positioning and collect input for new releases
  • Prioritize and document requirements, epics, and user stories for new releases of our offerings
  • Guide major enhancements of our offerings by working cross-functionally with core teams across our Engineering team and the upstream open source community
  • Work with the OpenShift Engineering team and the overall product team to manage releases and updates of our offerings and bring new Red Hat OpenShift solutions to market
  • Work with our Sales teams to respond to customer inquiries; deliver customer presentations and demos and support the overall sales process
  • Support sales and marketing activities including creating presentations, blogs, demos, and other technical collateral for our offerings
  • Review and provide feedback on the documentation for our offerings

What you will bring

  • 5+ years of experience in the enterprise software industry, working in product management, technical marketing, solutions engineering, or a similar technical product or customer-facing role
  • Experience with working on Linux, familiarity with container technologies (Kubernetes, etc.)
  • Previous experience bringing to market, building or otherwise working with cloud observability solutions to collect and analyze data from applications and infrastructure. 
  • Understanding of advanced cloud platform management concepts (metrics, logs, tracing events, alerting, diagnosis, logging, resolution, visualization)
  • Working knowledge of the CNCF ecosystem of open source solutions
  • Familiarity with at least one cloud or application management solutions like Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), or similar
  • Bachelor's or graduate degree, preferably in computer science, engineering, or a related discipline
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including English fluency
  • Willingness to travel up to 25%, following Red Hat's COVID-19 guidelines

The following are considered a plus:

  • Familiarity with Prometheus or similar monitoring tool
  • Familiarity with service reliability engineering (SRE) culture and tooling
  • Familiarity with cloud operations management platforms like Google Cloud Stackdriver, Amazon CloudWatch, VMWare Tanzu, or Azure Operations Management Suite 
  • Previous community involvement with Kubernetes, KubeVirt, OpenStack, oVirt, or other open source projects 
  • Experience with Red Hat OpenShift, Red Hat OpenStack Platform, Red Hat Virtualization, VMware, or other enterprise-level infrastructure solutions
  • Bachelor's or graduate degree, preferably in computer science, engineering, or a related discipline
  • Prior experience with the agile development process
  • Familiarity with Jira or a similar ticketing tool
