Job summary

The Red Hat Engineering team is looking for an experienced developer to join us as a Software Engineer. In this role, you will join our GPU, Input, and Multimedia Infrastructure team, working closely with the team to develop solutions across all of our core responsibilities. You will develop leadership skills by helping manage releases, coordinating the feature backlog of the team, as well as fixing common vulnerabilities and exposures (CVEs) and other issues in our Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and Fedora releases. Our team works closely with the upstream communities and hardware vendors to develop open source support for, Wayland, Mesa, DRM/KMS, Pipewire, PulseAudio, GStreamer, and libinput.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Develop solutions to customer issues in multimedia and input infrastructure
  • Collaborate closely with other team members to manage and coordinate development efforts
  • Fix bugs and CVEs in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), Fedora, and upstream
  • Assist with coordinating and maintaining the backlog of the team

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science
  • Development experience with one or more of the following projects: Pipewire, PulseAudio, libinput, Wayland, X.Org, Mesa, and DRM/KMS
  • Demonstrated record working in the open source community
  • 2+ years of work experience
  • Experience with the C programming language and Python
  • Experience with Jira, JQL, or Jira APIs
