Job summary

The Red Hat Single Sign-On (SSO) team is looking for a Senior Frontend Developer to join us. In this role, you will work as a member of a team responsible for developing and producing the Keycloak project. You’ll work within Red Hat and the upstream Keycloak community to provide frontend development to support the user experience vision of our interaction designers. The primary area of expertise for this position is TypeScript and React framework. Working either remotely or from the local Red Hat office is a possibility.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Implement UIs with clean, responsive, and accessible HTML, CSS, and TypeScript as needed to support the design vision
  • Work with UX designers to bring UI designs from concept to implementation through rapid prototyping and evaluation of design ideas
  • Work with the development teams to gather information about system APIs and help shape the data that is available for UI consumption
  • Be precise in your attention to design details to ensure a clean and clear experience for users through implementation of subtle interactions and affordances
  • Work closely with designers during brainstorming, design reviews, and iteration of UI improvement

Required skills

  • Experience building applications with HTML, CSS, TypeScript, and React
  • Experience with development tools like Git, npm, or yarn
  • Experience with testing frameworks like Cyprus or Jest
  • Ability to create robust web applications from visual concepts, wireframes, and interactive product design sessions
  • Ability to learn quickly and solve issues as they arise
  • Ability to work within a distributed team and communicate effectively

The following are considered a plus:


  • Experience contributing to upstream open source software communities
  • Professional experience with Java, JEE applications, or other backend application technologies
  • Good understanding of core concepts related to application security
  • Familiarity with modern token-based application security standards like OAuth2 and OpenID Connect
  • Familiarity or direct experience with Keycloak codebase and core features
  • Knowledge of and familiarity with the Red Hat Application Services portfolio
