    Job summary

    The Red Hat Consulting team is looking for a Project Manager to join us in China. In this role, you will actively manage medium-complexity projects to successful completion from initiation, through delivery, to closure. You’ll coordinate cross-functional teams, through meetings and progress measurement activity, which bring distinct, specific projects to completion both on time and within budget. As a Project Manager, you’ll need to be an experienced project management professional or scrum master with a full understanding of industry-standard project management practices as well as Red Hat’s policies and procedures and the ability to interact with senior Red Hat and customer management at all levels.

    Primary job responsibilities

    • Integrate and use specific industry project management (PM) and technical delivery methodologies, e.g., PM methodologies based on the Project Management Institute (PMI), Red Hat Services PM methodology, system and software development, product development, and scrum methods
    • Manage medium complexity projects or support more senior project managers in management of higher-complexity projects with little supervision
    • Lead project team using traditional waterfall or agile processes
    • Initiate projects effectively to include development and presentation of project kickoffs internally and with customers
    • Manage project schedule (Gantt or sprint) to include dependencies and predecessor and successor tasks; monitor critical impediments to ensure delivery
    • Complete regular internal and external status reporting in accordance with Services PM guidelines
    • Maintain a risk and issue log to include probability and impacts and mitigation steps (if necessary); take ownership of issue and problem resolution by ensuring systematic and timely risk and issue tracking, appropriate escalations and follow-up, and regular status reporting
    • Perform continuously an effective, quality management of project outputs; this may include requirements traceability matrix development and independent test verification, planning and guiding a problem management plan (including escalations), audit checkpoints, and peer-reviews
    • Coordinate with resource management to mitigate staffing concerns; support project closeout associate assessment activities

    Required skills

    • Foundational knowledge of Red Hat’s technologies
    • Experienced with using various PM and agile tools
    • Ability to maintain awareness of emerging Red Hat’s technologies
    • Good communication skills in English, including speaking, reading, and writing
    • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or other industry project management certification
