    Job summary

    The Red Hat Sales team is looking for a Developer Advocate to join us in the Australia and New Zealand (ANZ) region. In this role, you will help shape the vision for Red Hat's tools and technology and inspire and recruit software developers. You’ll be the face of Red Hat to developers using next-generation technologies like Eclipse Che, Kubernetes, Istio, and Apache OpenWhisk. You’ll also work directly with developers building next-generation cloud-native applications. Internally, you will serve as a key technologist and thought leader, working across multiple product teams. You’ll grow and nurture Red Hat's reputation in the developer community and ensure that developers are up to date on Red Hat's technology offerings. You’ll need to have a passion for all kinds of technology, ability to create with software, and a personal vision for the future of software development. As a Developer Advocate, you should have demonstrable excellent communication and public presentation skills and be comfortable leading in-depth discussions with senior technical leaders (e.g., Global 2000 enterprise architects and principal software engineers). You’ll also need to have active software development background, demonstrated success speaking at developer events, and experience engaging developer communities.

    Primary job responsibilities

    • Create technical content for publication on our blog and other channels to show developers how to implement specific solutions or use new technologies
    • Speak and share your expertise at user groups and conferences
    • Educate and empower developers by creating and delivering practical technical workshops
    • Build partnerships with individuals, companies, and organizations that serve the same communities we do
    • Support marketing functions like content strategy and delivery, as well as event strategy and realization
    • Connect and network with other developers to identify how Red Hat might help them be even more successful
    • Gather and socialize feedback for our offerings that will inform engineering, sales, and marketing decision making
    • Support developers wherever they are, on forums, social media, meetups, and everywhere in between
    • Support Red Hat’s existing and prospective customers and independent software vendor (ISV) partners in monolith-to-microservices migrations

    Required skills

    • Excellent communication and presentation skills
    • Record of developing relationships at developer and executive levels throughout large enterprise IT organizations
    • Excellent knowledge of modern application development tools and languages, continuous integration (CI) and continuous delivery (CD) technology, development methodologies, preferably in Red Hat’s offerings
    • Understanding of and experience with public cloud technologies including Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and Google Compute Engine (GCE)
    • Understanding of and experience with Kubernetes and container technologies as well as popular languages and frameworks like Spring, Node.js, and JavaScript
    • Understanding of the open source development model and emerging industry trends like artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), internet of things (IoT), etc.
    • Understanding of modern methodologies like agile development and DevOps
      10+ years of experience developing software
