    Job summary

    The Red Hat Customer Experience and Engagement (CEE) team is looking for a Senior Software Maintenance Engineer to join us in Brno, Czech Republic. In this role, you will cooperate with top developers and architects of our customers on understanding, troubleshooting, and guiding complex and important issues to resolution. You'll provide high-level technical support and sustaining engineering services designed to maximize uptime and reduce IT costs. You will maintain close working relationships with our customers and assist our front-line support engineers with complex and challenging issues. This position gives you an opportunity to join one of the fastest growing enterprise software companies and work with new technologies.

    Primary job responsibilities

    • Use available tools to investigate and fix technical issues; resolve complex customer problems
    • Record customer interactions, including investigation, troubleshooting, and the resolution of issues
    • Work closely with Red Hat’s development engineering, and assist production support engineers and technical account managers
    • Share your knowledge, gained from solving issues, by contributing to the global Red Hat’s knowledge management system
    • Maintain dedication to providing the best experience for Red Hat’s customers
    • Manage workload and ensure that all customer issues are handled in time and guided to resolution
    • Assist in the development of comprehensive and reusable self-service solutions for future incidents

    Required skills

    • 5+ years of experience as a support, sustaining, or development engineer, or other directly related experience in an enterprise environment
    • Extensive experience with Linux or Unix operating systems with deep understanding of installation, configuration, upgrade, and maintenance
    • Upstream involvement in open source projects
    • Solid troubleshooting skills; experience using debugging tools like Eclipse and GNU Debugger (GDB)
