    Job summary

    The Red Hat Consulting team is looking for a Senior Project Manager to join us in Shanghai, China. In this role, you will actively manage high-complexity projects to successful completion from initiation, through delivery, to closure. You’ll coordinate cross-functional teams, through meetings and progress measurement activities, which will bring specific projects to completion both on time and within budget. As a Senior Project Manager, you’ll need to be an experienced project management professional or scrum master with a full understanding of industry-standard project management practices, as well as Red Hat policies and procedures, and the ability to interact with senior Red Hat and customer management at all levels.

    Primary job responsibilities

    • Integrate and use specific industry project management (PM) and technical delivery methodologies, e.g., PM methodologies based on PMI, Red Hat Services Project Management Methodology, system and software development, product development, or scrum methods
    • Manage high-complexity projects
    • Initiate projects effectively to include development and presentation of project kick-offs internally and with customers
    • Manage project schedule (Gantt or sprint) to include external dependencies and predecessor and successor task relationships; monitor critical paths
    • Complete regular internal and external status reporting in accordance with services PM guidelines
    • Maintain a risk and issue log to include probabilities, impacts, and mitigation steps (if necessary); take ownership of issue and problem resolution by ensuring systematic and timely risk and issue tracking, appropriate escalations and follow up, and regular status reporting
    • Coordinate with resource management to mitigate staffing concerns; support project closeout resource assessment activities
    • Coordinate cross-functional team meetings (finance, sales, resource management, etc.) as required
    • Complete project closeout activities, including a project closeout report and the completion of checklist in accordance with Services PM guidelines
    • Develop communication strategy to support ongoing and regular touch points with customer and project teams; ensure that customer sponsors are engaged in order to develop trusted adviser relationships
    • Monitor subcontractor and partner work and proactively maintain relationships to foster a “one team” approach to customer success

    Required skills

    • Good written and verbal language skills in English
    • Project Management Professional (PMP) or other project management certification
    • Ability to institute an effective change management process appropriate to the project delivery methodology (closely monitoring scope and RFC or working with scrum to communicate impacts of changes)
    • Ability to work with management on project proposals, bids, contracts, estimates, schedules, and risk analysis and to contribute to the project estimation process
    • Training skills in application of appropriate procedures and processes and in coaching and advising team members to accomplish project goals, to meet established schedules, and to resolve technical and operational issues
    • Ability to keep up to date on emerging technologies and project Management techniques
