    Job summary

    The Red Hat Virtualization team is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Red Hat Virtualization Management and oVirt team in Ra’anana, Israel. In this role, you will design and implement the virtualization machine management aspect of Red Hat Virtualization. You'll work as part of a geographically-distributed team and maintain close communication with other team members and upstream communities. As a Senior Software Engineer, you'll need to have passion for virtualization and cloud management technologies as well as Linux and free software. You'll need to be, or very quickly become, our subject-matter expert on scalable architectures and asynchronous communications.

    Primary job responsibilities

    • Create and guide development of new features and contribute to upstream projects in Java, Python, and Golang
    • Integrate changes in multiple projects and services into a consumable feature
    • Submit patches for bug fixes to the community and review patches from other community members
    • Work with the Quality Engineering (QE) team to ensure that projects are tested correctly
    • Publicize the work the team is doing via blogs, web postings, or conference talks
    • Play an active role in container and virtualization-related projects and communities like oVirt, Kubernetes, libvirt, and QEMU

    Required skills

    • 5+ years of experience working in a Linux environment with at least one language like Golang, Python, Java, or C or C++
    • Good communication skills; fluent written and verbal language skills in English
    • Great knowledge of Linux or UNIX platform
    • Ability to solve problems quickly and efficiently
    • Ability to work as part of a team and coordinate work with other team members
    • Experience with Git, GitHub, or Gerrit
    • Familiarity with virtualization, clusters, and container-related technologies is a plus
    • Open source development experience is a plus
