    Job summary

    Red Hat's Developer Engineering team is looking for a Software Engineer to join us in Bangalore, India. In this role, you will innovate, develop, debug, measure, and analyze to build our next-generation toolset around containers and microservices to help developers. You'll guide the technology and design of significant parts of the Red Hat Developer Toolset. As a Software Engineer, you will be the voice of Red Hat's technical authority, creating and delivering features and capabilities that help open source community and our customers achieve their business and technical goals with Red Hat’s offerings. You will collaborate with the community, content strategists, product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to understand customer perspectives and create effective solutions in support of the Developer team's mission.

    Primary job responsibilities

    • Lead multiple component design sessions in parallel; create design artifacts according to specifications
    • Work directly with designers and business partners to develop user interface and necessary back-end frameworks for the best customer experience
    • Deliver one or more critical software solutions on time and on (or under) budget
    • Use the agile software methodologies to adapt to changes in requirements quickly
    • Seek new ways of solving problems that increase efficiency
    • Use tools available in the market to improve quality, performance, and speed of development
    • Conduct design and code review sessions
    • Enforce code quality and performance
    • Analyze feasibility by presenting proofs of concepts (POCs)
    • Apply design patterns to solve problems

    Required skills

    • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field
    • 5+ years of software development experience, especially as part of UI or web development-related projects
    • Experience developing rich UI web-based user interfaces, including experience writing object-oriented JavaScript
    • Expertise in hand-coded Semantic HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
    • Familiarity with cross-browser differences
    • Solid development skills with knowledge of JQuery, AJAX, Spring MVC, or other web and UI-based frameworks
    • Familiarity with development using Java, Go, Python, etc.
    • Background in new (and old) software technologies like distributed caching, Oracle WebLogic Server, Apache Tomcat, messaging platforms (Active MQ and webMethods), MS SQL, and continuous integration (CI) technologies like Maven, Hudson, and Sonar
    • Knowledge of design with Adobe Photoshop, iRise, and other UI development tools
    • Broad knowledge of data exchange formats, including XML and JSON
    • Great written and verbal communication skills
    • Experience applying software design, implementation, testing, and debugging techniques
