    Job summary

    Come work as part of Red Hat’s sales team in a fast-growing innovative open source company. The Red Hat Marketing team is looking for a Business Development and Demand Generation Specialist to join us in Farnborough, U.K. In this role, you will identify sales opportunities within Red Hat’s emerging technologies across key industry trends like cloud, storage, middleware, and mobile. Working closely with sales specialists and account managers, you’ll use a consultative sales approach to qualify sales-ready opportunities. You’ll need to understand complex business problems and industry trends and use these information to profile and tailor Red Hat’s value propositions when engaging with end users. As a Business Development and Demand Generation Specialist, you will collaborate with stakeholders from across Red Hat, including marketing, sales, and partner teams.

    Primary job responsibilities

    • Identify new sales opportunities across predefined solutions areas within the Red Hat portfolio
    • Look for potential customers through a variety of techniques, including social media and other tools, to seek out new business opportunities
    • Identify and align Red Hat's solutions to meet customer needs or requirements
    • Ensure that outbound activity is in line with set targets and objectives
    • Use concise messaging to target a variety of industry verticals and contacts
    • Adjust activity and behavior based on pipeline coverage
    • Ensure that customer relationship management (CRM) systems are maintained and updated
    • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of the industry, as well as Red Hat's competitive position within it
    • Support team members and other associates
    • Represent Red Hat to the customer and vice versa in all sales-related matters

    Required skills

    • Detailed knowledge of the sales cycle within an IT organization
    • Knowledge of consultative sales techniques like solutions selling
    • 1-2 years of internal account management or business development experience
    • Previous experience managing outbound activities
    • Ability to work both on your own and as part of a team
    • Comfortable presenting thoughts, ideas, and stories of success to the business
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Willingness and motivation to learn and grow in an innovative technology company
    • Bachelor's degree or relevant technical degree is a plus
    • Prior experience with Salesforce.com (SFDC) is a plus
