    Job summary

    The Red Hat Engineering team is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join us in Bangalore, India. In this role, you will work as a developer and member of our OpenShift.io Build and Pipeline team. You’ll contribute to our open online development environment for planning, creating, and deploying hybrid cloud services strategy, specifically with Knative as an underlying open source platform. As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll need to familiarize yourself with the newest technologies and open source projects from day to day. Specifically, you’ll build up your cloud expertise with both development and operational topics related to Red Hat OpenShift and Kubernetes.

    Primary job responsibilities

    • Review, integrate, extend, develop, and operate software together with your team members in the Knative space, specifically with Knative build and pipeline
    • Work in an agile team, living agile and DevOps development practices based on test-driven development; this will require flexibility and the ability to work on different topics
    • Apply your analytical skills while proactively networking upstream

    Required skills

    • Bachelor’s or master's degree in computer science or a related technical discipline
    • Experience in working with Unix or Linux environments and sound knowledge in at least one state-of-the-art programming language
    • Readiness to analyze issues on multiple layers
    • Goal-oriented with excellent communication skills; ability to work as part of a team and embrace agile and pair programming practices
    • Fluent language skills in German and English

    The following are considered a plus:


    • Experience in multiple modern programming languages, e.g., Go, Ruby, Python, Java, JavaScript, or similar
    • Experience with test-driven development, continuous integration (CI) and continuous delivery (CD), and committer and contributor models and pair programming; practical knowledge of Git
    • Working experience with distributed systems
    • Knowledge of or experience contributing to open source offerings and processes
    • Knowledge of software-defined networking (SDN) is a plus
    • Experience using, operating, and developing on top of cloud infrastructures and services included in them
