    Job summary

    The Red Hat Storage Management team is looking for a Principal Software Engineer to join us in Bangalore, India. In this role, you will work as part of the team building configuration management, including initial deployment, configuration changes, and monitoring capabilities for Red Hat's storage solutions. You’ll be expected to work with the upstream projects and project communities that form the composite framework of the management and monitoring capabilities. You’ll prototype ideas and validate the design, as well as later address bug fixes and respond to topics from customers.

    Primary job responsibilities

    • Deliver high-quality solutions
    • Participate and contribute to upstream open source communities
    • Prototype ideas and validate design choices
    • Participate in the complete software development life cycle, from requirement gathering to the deployment of solutions
    • Design, develop, and deliver fixes on topics raised by customers
    • Document code consistently throughout the development process
    • Review, to the extent possible, the changes in code and the environment that will affect system performance
    • Deliver demos and technical presentations to a varied audience

    Required skills

    • 3+ years of applications programming experience using Python
    • Familiarity with configuration management tools like Ansible by Red Hat and Ansible tower by Red Hat
    • Knowledge of RPM-based packaging systems
    • Some familiarity with containers and cloud infrastructures
    • Bachelor's degree in computer science or other technical degree with relevant experience
    • Knowledge of tracing and debugging to isolate error conditions
    • Knowledge of free and open source software development concepts and methodologies
    • Ability to work with a distributed team
    • Experience interacting with customer technical teams is a plus
