    Job summary

    Guide the direction, design, and implementation of our technology. The Red Hat Engineering team is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join us. In this role, you will work with some of the brightest engineers in the open source community to create innovative software solutions. You'll join the globally distributed Red Hat Virtualization team to develop and maintain Red Hat Virtio Networking as part of the QEMU-KVM hypervisor. This role can be based remotely anywhere in the U.S.

    Primary job responsibilities

    • Improve Red Hat Virtio Networking drivers and utilities
    • Develop new features and drivers for Red Hat Virtio Networking as part of the QEMU-KVM hypervisor and the Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) guest drivers
    • Debug and fix issues in regards to Red Hat Virtio Networking
    • Develop new QEMU and KVM features
    • Optimize and maintain KVM and open source machine emulator and virtualizer (QEMU) code

    Required skills

    • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field
    • 3+ years of experience with programming, especially in C
    • Experience working with low-level drivers
    • Ability to perform well on your own and meet deadlines
    • Good communication skills


    The following are considered a plus:

     

    • Knowledge of virtualization
    • Experience with QEMU or KVM
    • Contribution to and engagement in open source projects
    • Networking knowledge and experience
    • Knowledge of Virtio
    • Knowledge of DPDK
    • Knowledge of Intel 64 or AMD64 architecture or similar
