    Job summary

    The Red Hat Consulting team is looking for a Middleware Consultant with significant experience in JEE to join us in Milan, Italy. In this role, you will play a key role in our customers' evolution in enterprise development and help make Red Hat’s solutions both practical and workable for their businesses. You’ll guide the on-site implementation of Red Hat’s middleware and DevOps technologies like Red Hat JBoss Enterprise Application Platform (JBoss EAP), Red Hat JBoss Fuse, and OpenShift by Red Hat. As a Middleware Consultant, you will work to gain understanding of customer infrastructure and business needs, make recommendations that resolve customer issues, and help them make strategic decisions. You'll then build enterprise applications and capabilities around cloud technologies to streamline development and allow for continuous feature release of applications.

    Primary job responsibilities

    • Become a respected Red Hat subject matter expert at the customer site, addressing technical, development, and strategic IT requirements
    • Use your critical thinking skills to tackle tough problems in an innovative way
    • Define overall system architectures and manage software specification, design, testing, and deployment of open source solutions
    • Serve as a trusted advisor at the customer site and assist the project or technical managers in setting and delivering on expectations
    • Maintain deep understanding of industry practices through project experience and training
    • Respond to incidents, escalations, and exceptions in a professional manner

    Required skills

    • 5+ years of experience and advanced knowledge of middleware and JEE, including enterprise web or middleware development project experience
    • 5+ years of experience working directly with enterprise stakeholders on a range of development and deployment projects
    • Advanced Java and architecture experience with demonstrated architect-level involvement with many aspects of middleware
    • Good working knowledge of microservices architectures
    • Deep experience in at least one of the major middleware solutions; Red Hat JBoss Middleware is preferred, but experience with other JEE platforms is also acceptable
    • Knowledge of software development methodologies, object-oriented design, and development principles, including enterprise design patterns
    • Experience with Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) technologies
    • Experience with CI and continuous delivery (CD) technologies
    • Experience with API management technologies
    • Experience with software version control tools
    • Solid foundation in agile development methodologies
