    Job summary

    The Red Hat Cloud Services Engineering team is looking for an Associate Manager to join us in Waterford, Ireland. In this role, you will manage a dedicated team of innovative engineers in a fast-moving technology space and guide them through exciting changes in how we collaborate and deliver Red Hat’s products and services to our customers. You will also help translate our course of action and goals to the team while supporting the career development of associates reporting to you. Working in a fun and engaging workplace, you will partner and collaborate with other managers in our team, other teams, and open source communities in general to deliver the best possible results.

    Primary job responsibilities

    • Serve as a people manager for 6-8 associates with the capacity to grow responsibility over time, while overseeing career development and coaching of associates
    • Clarify technical details and ensure that teams are aligned with stakeholder expectations
    • Assist with the planning, fulfillment, and delivery of communicated goals, projects, and technical roadmaps
    • Work closely with the members of our Engineering, Operations, Quality Engineering (QE), Documentation, and Product Management teams to track project deliverables
    • Build and retain an amazing team
    • Be an advocate for Red Hat’s solutions and technologies
    • Work in and communicate with distributed teams

    Required skills

    • 2-3 years of experience as a people manager or team lead in a previous technical role
    • Ability to learn new technologies, understand technical requirements, and communicate with authority at a technical level, either in written form or via presentations
    • Practical experience working with agile methodologies in a software engineering capacity
    • Keen interest in open source and building communities
    • Act as a facilitator for team-based discussions
    • Excellent communication skills with an ability to present at conferences or to our customers, partners, and other stakeholders
    • Work on your own or with geographically-distributed and agile teams
    • Identify opportunities to improve your team's technical skill set through mentoring or training
