    Job summary

    The Red Hat Developers team is looking for a Software Engineer to join us in North America or Europe. In this role, you will work with cross-functional teams from across the company to help build solutions around the language servers. You’ll become part of the Red Hat Developers Languages team and will play an active part in the open source community around the Language Server Protocol and tooling around it, as well as collaborate with developers from other Red Hat projects and open source communities.

    Primary job responsibilities

    • Work with the languages and IDE services team on language server solutions, both the tooling and specifications
    • Develop new functionality for the jdt.ls language server and help enhance existing features; work across the open source community on dependencies to keep our language tooling up to date
    • Use the tools developed by the team to ensure the best developer experience possible for our customers
    • Focus on DevOps and how the entire development process can be improved
    • Be an active, vocal participant in the Eclipse and LSP communities; blog, participate in forums, and speak at user groups and conferences

    Required skills

    • Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science or a related discipline; 2-5 years of experience developing software in a collaborative environment
    • 2+ years of a development background in Java
    • Experience with Git and Maven
    • Experience with open source development, projects, and process is a plus
    • Comfortable working with a variety of tools, environments, and frameworks as part of a technically pragmatic team
    • Good written and verbal communication skills in English
    • Ability to work as part of a team and interact comfortably with other members of a large, geographically distributed team

    The following are considered a plus:


    • Experience with Visual Studio Code
    • Experience with Eclipse Java Development Tools (JDT)
    • Experience with programming language support development
