    Job summary

    The Red Hat DevOps team is looking for a Senior Software Engineer, experienced in Python, to join us in Brno, Czech Republic. In this role, you will work with a team of Red Hat engineers on a range of tools that are mission-critical in the test and release processes of our Red Hat portfolio. You'll make sure these tools are ready for the innovative open source technologies. You will also have the opportunity to participate in open source communities, including the Beaker project. As a Senior Software Engineer, you'll join a team that sets high standards for their work and works in an agile fashion. You'll need to be able to solve complex problems with tough constraints and work with customers under conflicting requirements and priorities.

    Primary job responsibilities

    • Maintain Beaker, a tool for managing and automating labs of test computers
    • Collaborate with upstream open source communities on relevant projects
    • Help the team adopt continuous integration (CI) and continuous development (CD) methodologies
    • Improve the tools and processes used to deliver Red Hat solutions to customers; ensure those tools are robust, reliable, and ready for the next generation of open source technologies
    • Collaborate with users of our tools and other stakeholders to find solutions to their problems
    • Develop, document, and test software using sound development practices

    Required skills

    • Ability to systematically debug failures caused by packaged GNU or Linux software
    • Familiarity with current Python-based web development technologies and techniques or with C/C++ development
    • Experienced in using Git, performing code review with Gerrit, and managing CI systems like Jenkins
    • Ability to work on your own in a small agile team environment
    • Understanding of Flask, SQLAlchemy, Backbone.js, and WebDriver for implementation and testing
    • Understanding of the BeakerLib test framework and the restraint test harness for the system integration testing and domain knowledge is a plus
