    Job summary

    The Red Hat Engineering team is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join us in Toronto, Canada. In this role, you will focus on development and integration of Red Hat JBoss Middleware solutions into emerging technology including Cloud Architecture, Mobile, Big Data and analytics, and their use in Microservices, API management, business rules and process managements, and other domains. You will join a team of seasoned engineers who have practical experience with the full portfolio of Red Hat solutions including Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), Red Hat Virtualization, cloud, storage, systems management, and middleware offerings. Your primary task will be to work on high priority solutions and projects that are typically multi-product and often span across multiple groups. You will become an essential contributor to the mission of the group.

    Primary job responsibilities

    • Design and develop software using a range of frameworks and technologies, often based on Java
    • Focus on online-first and cloud-native software development and containerization of existing software
    • Identify high-value solution stacks and associated customer-oriented, end-to-end use cases in physical, virtual, and cloud configurations
    • Perform systems architecture work to lead corporate technical strategy to best implement such solution stacks
    • Work with all relevant Red Hat functions to architect, stand-up, debug, and document customer-use-case driven end-to-end solution stacks
    • Evaluate solutions by integrating Red Hat offerings including virtualization, cloud, storage, middleware, and management and partner products as necessary

    Required skills

    • Bachelor’s and master’s degree in computer science or computer engineering or equivalent
    • 10+ years of software development experience
    • Very good analytical and programming skills
    • Expertise in Java development
    • Solid understanding of multi-tier architectures and environments
    • Comfortable developing in and configuring a Linux environment
    • Experience with Red Hat JBoss Middleware suite of solutions
    • Experience with OpenShift by Red Hat or Kubernetes
    • Excellent people and leadership skills
    • Excellent communication skills in writing and presenting to technical, business, management, and customer audiences
    • Motivated with the ability to take charge of assigned project(s) and guide all aspects of it with minimal supervision
    • Ability to lead and direct the work of other team members
    • Ability to adapt to changing strategies and priorities
