    Job summary

    Make an impact on software quality at the world's leading open source company. The Red Hat Quality Engineering team is looking for a Quality Engineer to join us in Pune, India. In this role, you'll own testing for one or more product areas. You will work to accurately report testing status and identify areas of risk when evaluating product or subsystem readiness. We'll also need you to write clear and accurate bug reports, conduct technical consultations with development engineers to solve problems, and participate in open source community testing efforts. You'll need to have an understanding of testing and product release processes, as well as the ability to develop tests using automation infrastructure and available scripting languages.

    Primary job responsibilities

    • Help define and implement automated test strategies, methodologies, processes, and procedures
    • Analyze source code and work with development engineers to propose appropriate test strategies for solution subsystems
    • Develop automated tests in accordance with department policies and processes
    • Develop test plans and strategies
    • Participate in and contribute to weekly team meetings
    • Carry out tests and analyze failures

    Required skills

    • Bachelor's degree in IT or computer science with 2+ years of related experience or training; equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered
    • Understanding of and experience with test design and coding
    • Experience building and maintaining test environments and automating data-driven test suites
    • Experience with Linux or UNIX commands and system usage; Linux or UNIX system administration experience
    • Good understanding of LDAP, Kerberos, DNS, and networking
    • Ability to provide and maintain virtual machines
    • Coding skills with Bash and Python
    • Experience with open source software development methodologies is a plus
