    Job summary

    The Red Hat Engineering team is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join us in Ra'anana, Israel. In this role, you will guide the direction, design, and implementation of our modern technology. You’ll work with some of the brightest engineers in the open source community to create innovative solutions for the next generation. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will work as part of the globally distributed Red Hat Virtualization team to develop and maintain Kernel-based Virtual Machine (KVM), a core technology of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).

    Primary job responsibilities

    • Develop new KVM and QEMU features; QEMU is an open source machine emulator and virtualizer
    • Optimize and maintain KVM and QEMU code
    • Focus on KVM and QEMU virtual machines and PCI

    Required skills

    • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
    • 5+ years of experience and deep programming knowledge with 3+ of those years specializing in C language
    • Experience with low-level and kernel development
    • Ability to work well on your own
    • Good communication skills

    The following are considered a plus:


    • Experience with virtualization
    • Experience with virtual machines and PCI in QEMU
    • Experience contributing to open source projects
    • Familiarity with Intel 64 and AMD64 architectures and ARM64
