    Job summary

    Come work alongside some of the brightest developers in the open source community who are the founders and committers on major open source projects. The Red Hat Middleware Engineering team is looking for a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer to join us in Germany. In this role, you will work on the development of Red Hat JBoss Fuse, which is part of the Red Hat JBoss Middleware suite of offerings in the integration space based on popular open source projects. You’ll get an opportunity to gain a deep understanding of and contribute to a variety of popular Java middleware technologies including Syndesis, Apache Camel, Apache Karaf, Apache CXF, Fabric8, and HawtIO. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will work as part of the Engineering team, contributing to these open source projects and delivering enterprise-ready offerings based on these projects that are suitable for use by our customers in mission-critical applications. You’ll need to have good knowledge of enterprise integration technologies and enjoy working on mission-critical systems, solving complex problems with hard constraints. Successful applicants must reside in a country where Red Hat is registered to do business.

    Primary job responsibilities

    • Contribute to innovative open source enterprise middleware projects 
    • Propose and implement new functionalities based on an analysis of customer requirements, industry trends, and competitive offerings
    • Participate in agile planning and development activities and help to continuously improve the way we work
    • Provide integration with a broad range of middleware technologies
    • Build offerings based on these open source projects that are designed and packaged for enterprise IT use
    • Build mindshare for our technologies by blogging, tweeting, delivering webinars, and submitting talks to conferences

    Required skills

    • Degree in computer science or a related discipline
    • 5+ years of experience in Java development and experience with technologies like Amazon Web Services (AWS), Spring, cloud computing, messaging, distributed systems, or networking
    • Experience with Git, Maven, shell scripting, and related technologies
    • Organized and methodical approach to work; good attention to detail
    • Solid written and verbal communication skills in English
    • Ability to interact comfortably with other members of a large, geographically distributed team


    The following are considered a plus:

     

    • Experience with Kubernetes or OpenShift by Red Hat
    • Experience with programming in Golang
    • Experience with any major middleware offerings
    • Experience with open source development
