    Job summary

    Work on the open source LLVM toolchain and its associated Clang (C and C++) front end. The Red Hat Platform Tools team is looking for a Software Engineer to join us. In this role, you will primarily work on internal builds of LLVM and Clang, bug investigation, and continuous integration, but you’ll also have the opportunity to contribute junior-level development work. With the support of a highly-experienced team of tools specialists, you will help build, test, and validate LLVM and Clang builds, as well as investigate and analyze discovered bugs in these and related tools. You'll join a fast-­paced and talented engineering team working collaboratively across the globe. As a Software Engineer, you will participate in a vibrant open source culture and help promote quality and innovation in Red Hat’s tools and you’ll have the opportunity to contribute to upstream LLVM and Clang projects. The work location is flexible, though candidates in Brno, Czech Republic will be preferred. Well-qualified engineers at other locations will be considered. Successful applicants must reside in a country where Red Hat is registered to do business.

    Primary job responsibilities

    • Work with the Red Hat Platform Tools team to help build, test, and validate Red Hat’s tools
    • Investigate, analyze, and track bugs discovered through testing, taking bugs upstream to the LLVM and Clang community as appropriate
    • Interact with developers and communities both internally within Red Hat and externally in the open source LLVM and Clang communities
    • With support from senior engineers, investigate and help fix LLVM and Clang compiler bugs, address efficiency improvements, and improve optimizations in line with business needs and your skill level
    • Plan and track your work and regularly report progress to team management

    Required skills

    • 3+ years of experience in software QA or development
    • Familiarity with C and C++ programming languages
    • Solid language and communication skills in English
    • Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, computer engineering, or a technology­-related discipline

    The following are considered a plus:


    • Willingness to work with a geographically distributed team across North America and Europe
    • Experience with the Linux operating system
    • Knowledge of and experience with LLVM and Clang
    • Experience with Linux scripting languages
    • Experience building, testing, or developing for LLVM and Clang
    • Experience participating in the upstream LLVM and Clang communities
    • Experience building or packaging software, particularly for operating systems
    • Knowledge of GCC or other C or C++ toolchains
