    Job summary

    The Red Hat Software Engineering team is looking for a Junior Software Engineer to join us in Barcelona, Spain. In this role, you will help develop our Apache Tomcat, Apache HTTP Server modules and extensions on different platforms. You will also develop upstream patches for our customers. You'll work with our Security team, upstream users in Apache Tomcat and Apache HTTP server communities, our Support team and our Quality Engineering (QE) team.

    Primary job responsibilities

    • Help with the production of patches for Red Hat JBoss Web Services (JWS), Red Hat JBoss Core Services (JBCS), and the Red Hat supported versions of Apache Tomcat and Apache HTTP server product line
    • Write patches in Java or C for HTTPD and Tomcat
    • Help to develop mod_proxy_cluster, an extension of mod_balancer of Apache HTTPD
    • Contribute to developing extensions for OpenShift by Red Hat
    • Help with the production of the Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE) fixes and reproducers for Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), Microsoft Windows, and Solaris

    Required skills

    • Shell scripting skills in Bash, or Python or Groovy
    • Good knowledge of C and Java
    • Familiarity with Eclipse or a similar integrated development environment (IDE)
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows or Solaris
    • Previous participation in some upstream projects is a plus
