    Job summary

    Come work at the world’s leading open source software company. The Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) Kernel team is looking for a Software Engineer to join us in Brno, Czech Republic. In this role, you'll join a fast-paced team working on automated integration, automated verification, and delivering the latest Linux kernel. You'll also have opportunities to interact with the upstream Linux kernel community by way of automated tests.

    Primary job responsibilities

    • Implement process infrastructure for automation, bots, and testing of kernel
    • Employ modern techniques like machine learning ML to enhance traditional automated test infrastructure
    • Work with the broad community of Linux developers
    • Diagnose hardware infrastructure issues found during automated testing
    • Report bugs found inside the kernel code to kernel developers
    • Develop kernel patches
    • Assist developers with issues in automated process
    • Develop incremental feature test cases and test suites
    • Design and write test cases in C, bash, and Python
    • Install versions of Linux operating system on new hardware and test for bug replication

    Required skills

    • Proficiency with bash, Python, C, and Git
    • Familiarity with primary operating system subsystems (networking, storage, file systems, etc.)
    • Experience deploying and running basic Linux services
    • Working knowledge of GDB and Crash
    • Experience with Linux or UNIX administration and troubleshooting
    • Testing experience

    The following will be considered a plus:


    • Bachelor's degree in computer science
    • 3+ years of working experience with Linux
    • Experience working with upstream Linux kernel community
    • Familiarity with continuous integration (CI) workflow
    • Familiarity with Jenkins
    • Container experience
