    Job summary

    The Red Hat Quality Engineering (QE) team is looking for a software Senior Quality Engineer to join us in Pune, India. In this role, you will join an international team of software engineers immersed in the latest technology within the Linux domain. You’ll be responsible for evaluating the functionality of our offerings, extending our existing test automation framework, and implementing new open source tools to verify the quality of Red Hat’s solutions, all while being exposed to innovative technology like Amazon Web Services (AWS) and container management.

    Primary job responsibilities

    • Participate in the test planning and product planning processes
    • Develop test cases and maintain a thorough understanding of the functionality of our offerings
    • Develop tests using automation infrastructure and available scripting languages
    • Deliver clear status for testing areas in a timely manner
    • Write clear and accurate bug reports
    • Help maintain some of the infrastructure environments

    Required skills

    • Bachelor's degree in IT or computer science and 5+ years of related experience or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
    • Professional experience with Linux or UNIX systems
    • Active scripting and programming skills using Python
    • Experience with Git or other source control technologies
    • Specific experience deploying, configuring, and maintaining virtualization environments
    • Experience with continuous integration (CI) and developing automated tests
    • Solid written and verbal communication skills in English
    • Passion for testing and examining how things work internally

    The following are considered a plus:


    • Familiarity with open source software development methodologies
    • Participation in open source projects
    • Familiarity with Linux system management, open source automation tools, and free and open source software
    • Red Hat certifications like Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA), Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), Red Hat Certified Virtualization Administrator (RHCVA), etc.
    • Experience performing web user interface (UI) automation using Selenium
