    Job summary

    Make a difference in the way our serverless architecture solutions and services based on the Apache OpenWhisk project work and are built. The Red Hat Quality Engineering (QE) team is looking for a Senior Quality Engineer to join us in Brno, Czech Republic. In this role, you will gain deep understanding of a complete portfolio of our solutions and the related technologies, including Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), OpenShift by Red Hat, and the rest of Red Hat's middleware portfolio. You'll make sure our solutions fulfill the highest possible enterprise quality, performance, usability, and supportability criteria compared to competing offerings. As a Senior Quality Engineer, you will serve as the last instance before applications are released to the public. You'll serve as a mentor to other team members and advise them on creating and implementing test plans, researching new features, and developing automated tests. You'll need to have the ability to think creatively and adapt to rapid change and the willingness to learn new things.

    Primary job responsibilities

    • Work with the complete OpenShift by Red Hat and serverless solutions portfolio and be actively involved in and responsible for the delivery of serverless
    • Create and review test and sprint plans and suggest improvements for product planning processes
    • Develop new automated test designs, test frameworks, and automation, and analyze current solutions and suggest improvements
    • Evaluate all relevant information from QE (e.g., history of finding and fixing issues in an offering or a project) and help make decisions on planning and triage meetings
    • Serve as a point of contact for other team members and help guide them to effectively resolve issues with testing; participate in QE goals and make sure deliverables are met by all of QE
    • Prepare action plans for release testing and supervise its implementation
    • Contribute features and tests upstream and give technical presentations at conferences
    • Work in close cooperation with the engineering team in an agile development process

    Required skills

    • Linux administration skills and background
    • Deep knowledge of trends and technologies in container building, operation, and orchestration
    • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in English
    • Deep knowledge of solutions available for coding tests and new automation and their pluses and minuses; ability to perform code reviews and suggest enhancements based on best practices


    The following are considered a plus:

     

    • Commercial experience with Java development and testing, knowledge of Scala or Go, and interest in learning new languages
    • Experience with the performance testing of large-scale applications
    • Familiarity with Kafka, Nginx, and Apache CouchDB
