The Red Hat Professional Services team is looking for a Middleware Architect to join our Benelux team in Amsterdam, Netherlands, or Brussels, Belgium. In this role, you will become a subject matter expert for Red Hat's middleware solutions, you will seek to understand our customers' technology, people, and processes and recommend open source solutions that solve tough business problems. We’ll expect you to take a big-picture view of customer's organization, analyze the challenges, and help to overcome them with comprehensive, cost-effective solutions. You will have access to new ideas that emerge in the IT world. An average day is rare for a Professional Services teams because there's always something new to learn or a new problem to solve.

    Primary job responsibilities

    • Serve as the subject matter expert at the client site, addressing the technical, development, and strategic IT needs
    • Manage problem identification, system architecture definition, software specification, and the design, testing, and deployment of open source solutions
    • Architect solutions to meet the unique requirements of Red Hat's new and emerging customers, and oversee proofs of concepts and pilot implementations of Red Hat's solutions portfolio
    • Learn new technologies and apply those concepts to customer needs
    • Contribute to the development of repeatable methodologies and tools designed to scale Red Hat's services capabilities, promote repeatable customer engagements, and lower delivery risk
    • Be a subject matter expert and present creative ideas in the community by producing exceptional white papers and webinars and by speaking at high-profile industry conferences

    Required skills

    • Multiple years of architecture experience, with focus on enterprise virtualization, cloud, or data center infrastructure
    • Record of working in consulting set up with background working in a strategic advisory capacity to senior IT and business executives
    • Broad and deep technical experience with middleware technologies on a both delivery and architecture level specialized preferably in one of the following or competitive solutions:
      • Cloud, DevOps , Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS), e.g. OpenShift by Red Hat
      • Integration, e.g., Red Hat JBoss Fuse or Fuse software, Red Hat JBoss Data Virtualization
      • Automation , e.g., Red Hat JBoss BPM Suite or Red Hat JBoss BRMS
      • Development, e.g., Red Hat JBoss EAP application development
    • Java architecture experience with demonstrated architect-level involvement with aspects of middleware
    • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
    • Solutions sales mentality in an environment with multiple offerings and services
    • Proven ability to work with distributed cross-functional teams to achieve success on behalf of customers
    • Good balance of strategic and tactical skills
    • Willingness to travel up to 70 % across the Benelux region, with an emphasis on the Netherlands or Belgium (depending on the place of residence)
    • Excellent English language skills; Dutch or French language skills are a major plus
    • Desire to work with passionate people and make an impact
