Job summary

The Red Hat Sales team is looking for an experienced Senior Account Solutions Architect to join us in Sydney, Australia. In this role, you will lead the growth and development of Red Hat's business in key accounts in our New South Wales (NSW) territory. You’ll work with innovative enterprise open source software like Red Hat OpenStack Platform, OpenShift by Red Hat, Ansible by Red Hat, and open source development frameworks for hosting and building modern applications. You’ll be the catalyst shaping customer digital strategies, translating business problems into technology solutions, and establishing long-term trusted relationships with our customers. Using your excellent questioning and listening skills, you’ll discover and analyze our customers' business and technical issues and their desired outcomes and link those to the Red Hat value proposition. As a Senior Account Solutions Architect, you will collaborate closely with sales, marketing, specialist, and technical delivery teams to help customers invest in the most appropriate solutions from Red Hat. You’ll need to have a balance of technical expertise, sales insight, passion for open source software and community, and of thorough understanding of business drivers and IT problems faced by enterprise customers. You’ll represent Red Hat at events and technical forums, speaking to audiences varying from CxOs to user groups about Red Hat’s technologies, solutions, and services.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Build trusted relationships with key accounts to gain deep understanding of customer business drivers, IT environments, and strategies, allowing the Red Hat Sales team to match Red Hat’s offerings and solutions to address these requirements
  • Use education sessions, technology validations, and workshops to guide engaging conversations with your customers that solve customer challenges and result in successful adoption of Red Hat’s offerings and solutions
  • Stimulate sales growth within your set of named accounts and ensure software subscription and that net-new business and professional services targets are met while maintaining high level of customer satisfaction with Red Hat
  • Demonstrate ownership of the technical relationships and sales cycle within a set of named accounts in your territory
  • Provide timely presales technical support to the sales team through the development of compelling proposals that address customer business problems
  • Research and write responses to technical sections of RFIs, RFPs, and RFQs
  • Demonstrate the ability to interpret industry, market, and technology trends as a foundation for roadmaps for our offerings and technologies
  • Communicate value, progress, and status of sales opportunities to all stakeholders

Required skills

  • 7+ years of experience as a UNIX, Linux, or virtual infrastructure engineer, or 7+ years of experience as middleware or software integration architect with a background in software development in Java
  • 3+ years of experience as a sales engineer, consultant, IT architect, or equivalent experience supporting enterprise accounts
  • Excellent questioning, listening, document writing, and presentation skills
  • Record of developing relationships at engineering, commercial, and executive levels throughout large enterprise IT organizations
  • Experience across industry verticals like financial services, telecommunications, media, and state or federal government
  • Understanding of complex enterprise solutions and architectures
  • Excellent knowledge of and experience with public cloud technologies including Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and Google Compute Engine (GCE)
  • Excellent knowledge of UNIX and Linux systems, preferably in Red Hat platform offerings including Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and Red Hat Satellite
  • Excellent knowledge of virtualization platforms like Red Hat Virtualization, KVM, VMware, and Microsoft Hyper-V
  • Solid understanding of modern methodologies like agile development and DevOps and associated capabilities like automation, orchestration, and configuration management
  • Appetite for continual learning; motivated with excellent time management skills
  • Knowledge of application runtimes, development frameworks, and architectures like Node.js, WildFly Swarm, Eclipse Vert.x, Spring Boot, and Netflix Open Source (OSS) is a plus
