    Job summary

    The Red Hat Security Technologies team is looking for a Software Engineer to join us in Brno, Czech Republic. In this role, you will develop Security Compliance solutions based on open standards like the Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP). You’ll be a key member of OpenSCAP team and your contributions will have high visibility within the company and externally within the security automation community. This is an ideal position for an engineer with passion for open source who is interested in security and software development.

    Primary job responsibilities

    • Lead upstream testing and development efforts
    • Design and develop tools, frameworks, and tests to support automation and continuous integration (CI) goals
    • Contribute to the OpenSCAP ecosystem at the engineering level, productizing needed functionality in Red Hat’s offerings
    • Collaborate with other Red Hat engineers, product managers, and management located across the globe
    • Participate in the whole development cycle from requirements gathering, scoping, and source code development to testing and verification
    • Keep up to date with latest technologies and development methodologies
    • Provide technical mentoring to junior engineers on the team

    Required skills

    • Direct experience as a Linux administrator or power user
    • Programming skills in C or C++
    • Knowledge of a shell scripting language (Bash or Python)
    • Familiarity with CI systems and source code control tools like Git and GitHub
    • Direct experience with or interest in product quality deliverables, requirements and tasks definition, and testing strategy
    • Ability and desire to learn new programming languages and technologies
    • Good analytical thinking and problem-solving skills; fast learner and team player
    • Good organizational skills; ability to work proactively and transparently
    • Intermediate written and verbal communication skills in English
    • Experience with agile software development is a plus
