Job summary

The Red Hat IT team is looking for a DevOps Engineer to join us in Pune or Bangalore, India. In this role, you will work as a member of the Data Management Services team. This team maintains business intelligence platforms that support data-driven decision-making across the company. You will work on automating deployment of applications and services, automation of code release, and testing and serve as the team’s subject matter expert (SME) for automation strategy. You'll also contribute to the team's capabilities and deliverables by demonstrating technical competence, personal initiative, creativity, learning, sharing, and teamwork while collaborating with local and remote team members well as external groups.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Automate and improve application deployment process (Puppet, Ansible, OpenShift)
  • Ensure application health and performance with application monitoring, enterprise application logging (Splunk), and infrastructure monitoring (Nagios, Graphite)
  • Maintain and improve monitoring, metrics for our supported application portfolio
  • Ensure consistent configuration and operation of development, test, and production environments, including app server (SAS Visual Analytics, Informatica Cloud, SAP Business Objects) and load balancer (F5, AWS ELB) configurations
  • Analyze logs, configurations, and monitoring metrics to debug application problems, collaborating with Quality Engineer team and developers

Required skills

  • Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) certification, or ability and willingness to pursue certification within 90 days of hire
  • 2+ years of experience with configuration management (Puppet, Ansible, etc.)
  • 2+ years of working with distributed source control like Git, including branching and merging
  • 2+ years of supporting mission-critical web applications with high availability requirements
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a closely related field
  • 2+ years of experience working in the business intelligence space is a plus
