Job summary

Help us provide infrastructure and services to the Fedora and CentOS communities. The Community Platform Engineering team at Red Hat is looking for a motivated Senior Technical Writer to join us in Brno, Czech Republic. In this role, you’ll need to have excellent writing skills in English and passion for open source and the idea of working transparently in the community. You will work side-by-side with our talented engineers and community members worldwide to create and improve documentation for both the Fedora and CentOS distributions and the services we build to make them possible. Millions of people around the globe will see and use your work as you'll contribute to the success of not only Fedora, CentOS, and Red Hat, but the open source community at large.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Work closely with engineering project teams and other stakeholders to produce and maintain high-quality documentation for community projects and tooling
  • Engage and collaborate with the Fedora and CentOS community members to address content gaps, act on direct feedback, and promote continuous improvement of the documentation experience
  • Keep up to date on tooling changes, community use cases, and support issues and use this feedback to update the documentation workflows
  • Effectively manage documentation projects and deliver community-focused documentation
  • Master the use of our documentation toolchain, including the publishing platform and issue tracking tools, providing fixes or patching where necessary

Required skills

  • Ability to read, write, and compile technical documents, including feature descriptions, customer use cases, and release notes
  • Fluent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Familiarity with Red Hat's solutions or related industry offerings like Linux, middleware, storage, cloud, or virtualization technologies
  • Excellent capability to establish and maintain communication with subject matter experts and other project team members


The following are considered a plus:


  • Familiarity with open source methodology
  • Bachelor's degree in IT, computer science, or arts or language
  • Familiarity with AsciiDoc and DocBook formats
  • Experience using AsciiBinder and Publican build tools
  • Experience with Git and pull request-based workflows
