    Job summary

    The Red Hat Customer Content Services team is looking for a Technical Writer to join us in Waterford, Ireland. In this role, you will join a team that promotes customer loyalty and success through content development and delivery. You'll create the feature documentation, user guides, and premium content, coming along Red Hat solutions, which will be made available online on the Red Hat Customer Portal. You will also work on effective scoping, quality testing, and delivery of writing projects, maintain a customer focus by participating in existing programs, and grow your technical expertise.

    Primary job responsibilities

    • Work closely with Engineering, Support Delivery, Documentation Program Management, and Content Strategy teams to produce and maintain high-quality documentation for upcoming releases
    • Engage with customer and internal feedback to address content gaps, act on direct customer feedback, and promote continuous improvement on the customer documentation experience
    • Participate in the feedback loop of solutions development to continually improve the user experience
    • Keep up-to-date on solutions changes, customer use cases, and support issues by communicating with other internal teams like Customer Experience and Engagement (CEE)
    • Adopt our internal documentation toolchain, including the publishing platform and issue tracking tools
    • Create screencasts and short tutorial videos to explain technical concepts and procedures

    Required skills

    • Bachelor's or master’s degree in IT, computer science, or related field; equivalent knowledge or experience will also be considered
    • Previous background or experience with Linux operating system, Linux or UNIX administration, open source technologies and software development, or cloud technologies
    • Experience with technical writing in a fast-paced, multiproduct environment
    • Ability to foster and maintain communication with subject matter experts and collaborate with content strategists and information architects
    • Ability to read, write, and compile technical documents, including issue descriptions and release notes, to a high standard
    • Experience writing technical content for end users, including reference manuals, user guides, and design specifications
    • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment, and maintain a focus on customers
    • Knowledge of agile, project management, version control systems (including Git), scripting, and user interface design experience are a plus
