About the job

The Red Hat Consulting team is looking for a Senior Project Manager to join us in Mumbai, India. In this role, you will manage complex projects from initiation to delivery and completion. You'll coordinate with cross-functional teams to complete distinct projects on time and within budget. As a Senior Project Manager, you'll need to be organized and detail oriented with substantial experience managing IT and software consulting projects, relying on traditional systems and software development methodologies. This is a role with regular travel to customer sites in India, following Red Hat's COVID-19 guidelines.

What you will do

  • Become a trusted advisor who develops a communication strategy to support ongoing and regular touch points with onsite customers and across multiple project teams 
  • Play an instrumental role in the organization’s agile transformation, acts as a change agent, and show solid leadership skills with a positive and collaborative attitude
  • Coordinate cross-functional team meetings with a best practice approach 
  • Serve as a point of contact between the customer, Consulting teams, and Project Accounting team
  • Initiate and manage complex projects effectively, including financial impact, risks, and business opportunities 
  • Coordinate with the Resource Management Office to manage staffing requirements and support project closeout​ resource​ assessment​ activities
  • Implement scaled agile and scrum processes and manage product managers, product owners, and release management team to facilitate release planning preparedness to ensure actionable prioritized program backlog​ 
  • Collaborates with product owner(s) to understand and create product backlog and release plan
  • Assist with training the project team on application of appropriate procedures and processes
  • Institute an effective change management process appropriate to the project delivery methodology by closely monitoring scope, requests for comment (RFCs), and working with scrum teams to communicate impact of change requests, prior to implementation
  • Coach members to accomplish project goals and meet established schedules​
  • Monitor and facilitate scrum ceremonies, including backlog grooming, daily scrum, sprint planning, sprint reviews, and retrospectives
  • Be accountable for team metrics, including sprint backlog, burn-down charts, and release planning

What you will bring

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience; Master’s degree is a plus
  • 18+ years of experience as a program or project manager working on IT-based projects
  • Knowledge of specific industry project management and technical delivery methodologies from PMI, system or software​ ​development,​ product​ development, or​ ​agile
  • PMI and agile certifications e.g., CSM, SAFe, PMP, etc.
  • Excellent customer­-facing and people management skills   
  • Ability to inspire, inspect, and adapt culture using iterative approaches
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate project teams and individual contributors and mediate conflicts
  • Experience using various project management and agile tools
  • Great written and verbal communication skills
  • Solid organizational skills, including attention to detail and multitasking skills
  • Working knowledge of project management tools and methodologies
  • Solid understanding of software development life cycle models as well as expert knowledge of both agile and traditional project management principles and practices and the ability to combine them in the right proportions to fit a project and business environment 
  • Experience managing highly strategic and complex projects and interacting with business and technology individuals at all levels, including the executive level
  • Ability to manage multiple, highly-complex projects in parallel, while providing frequent financial updates
