About the job

The Red Hat Insights Engineering team is looking for a Associate Software Engineer to join us ideally in Brno or remote in the Czech Republic. In this role, you will help design, implement, deploy and maintain a Content Managed Service.  You should be comfortable working with Go and JavaScript-based web applications. You will also use agile methodology for project management, so knowledge of agile development tooling with an emphasis on test-driven development is an advantage.

What you will do

  • Contribute features and bug fixes, as a full-stack engineer, to Managed Services at console.redhat.com with an initial focus towards an RPM Content Service
  • Ensure that there are tests for software that you create and that documentation is correct
  • Collaborate across time zones and geolocations with cross-functional teams, such as other engineering teams, product management, UX, and quality engineering
  • Demonstrate contributions to stakeholders and community
  • Break down features into smaller pieces of work
  • Work with a global team based primarily in Raleigh, USA, and Brno, Czechia

What you will bring

  • Experience with software development in any programming language
  • Basic experience with GitLab or GitHub
  • Basic experience working within a Linux development environment
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English

The following are considered a plus:

  • Software development experience using Agile methodologies and tools, such as Jira
  • Experience with Golang programming language
  • Experience with Javascript and some frontend development frameworks such as ReactJS
  • Knowledge of microservices architecture and concepts
  • Experience with container-related technologies like Kubernetes and OpenShift
  • Open source development experience
