The Red Hat Quality Engineering (QE) team is looking for an Automation Engineer to join us in the Czech Republic. In this role, you will contribute to the automated testing of the security features and functionality delivered in the operating system. You will explore new possibilities for Linux and apply your interest in computer security to improve Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and Fedora. You'll design and develop automated testing and tooling to support continuous integration (CI) goals. As an Automation Engineer, you'll have an opportunity to grow and familiarize yourself with operating system security and technologies like NBDE (Network-Bound Disk Encryption) Technology, keylime, audit, and sudo.

What you will do

  • Design and develop tools, frameworks and tests to support automation and CI goals
  • Use your programming expertise and Linux security knowledge to support high-quality solutions with a focus on the productization of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
  • Uncover issues to prevent impact on functionality, usability, security, or interoperability of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) with other solutions
  • Closely collaborate with other team members and stakeholders
  • Stay up to date with the latest technologies and development methodologies
  • Get involved in open source projects and communities

What you will bring

  • Familiarity with CI systems and source code control tools (Git and GitHub)
  • Experience in Quality Engineering or Software Engineering
  • Knowledge of scripting languages (Bash, Python)
  • Experience in general Linux system administration; ability to accomplish basic administrative tasks in the terminal, e.g., install packages, work with the filesystem, basic text file processing, etc.
  • Understanding of key operating system and security concepts
  • Hands-on experience or interest to focus on product quality deliverables; requirements/tasks definition; testing strategy.
  • Ability and desire to learn new programming languages and technologies
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English
